Goodreads Choice Awards Redux and Giveaway winners!
Code Name Verity has made it to the semifinals of the Goodreads Choice Awards!

So now if you voted, I think you all get to vote again. And I get to do some more preening. So what the heck. I am preening, I will do it properly. Here’s a list.

Code Name Verity is:

A School Library Journal Best Books title, 2012
A Booklist Books for Youth Editors’ Choice, 2012
An Amazon Best Teen Books 2012 title
A Barnes & Noble Best Teen Books of 2012 title
Longlisted for the UKLA Book Award 2013

That’s not the full list. That’s just what’s turned up in the last two days. That and the Goodreads Choice Awards Semifinals. Sooooo….

The semifinal round ends 18 November 2012. I have let the timing of the announcement run away with me because… I didn’t actually realize CNV was through to the semifinals till people on my Twitter feed started tweeting that they’d voted for it.

The winners of the giveaway are jillheather , carihunter and Lauren (who commented on the Goodreads link to this blog). Please send me your snail mail addresses at ewein2412 [AT] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk

There’s a Goodreads giveaway ending 4 Dec. 2012 for three more copies running at:

‘Next Big Thing’ post and more details about the next book coming up next week!

Oh nice, when the weekend comes around I can add all those award nominations to your Goodreads page - unless some other librarian gets there first. I wish you had gotten the Grampian short list, too.

hah! mustn't be greedy. I didn't even realize I was longlisted for the Grampian prize until after the shortlist was announced, so it didn't come as a blow.

I am not on the Washington Post "best of the year" list either... can't have everything!

Eek! I never win anything :-) That's just made me smile hugely despite being up at stupid o'clock. Thanks so much. Will spread the word about the semis to the Lesfic Special Ops!

you're welcome!

my techie 12-yr-old does the random number generation for me and I confess I was delighted when your number turned up! (though I would have been equally pleased had it been Nikki's or Ferox's)

Ferox is delighted too and Nikki still loves us enough to send us mittens :-)

There's this one too! http://www.txla.org/groups/tayshas

....basically at this point I scan any award list to see if CNV and/or Seraphina are on there and if they aren't, I discount the validity of the award. I tend to get a little partisan.

OK, I hadn't seen that one either, so I count it in this week's crop! and... wow, how awesome! I confess I tend to be a little partisan myself. um.

I mean, the validity of the award bit was mostly a joke, but I do use the books I really loved as a benchmark of whether they're being simply commercial or looking for quality. :)

I just learned via IN friends who attended the Indiana Library Federation conference this week that CNV is Nancy Pearl's favorite YA book of the year (she was a keynote speaker). Not an award, of course, but she's still Nancy Pearl ;)

I know! I am quite stunned! tiboribi flagged it up to me earlier today. I was so convinced it didn't have a chance to make it to the finals, just based on the low number of ratings it has compared with all the other nominees, that I didn't even bother to check. That'll teach me to have faith in my readers if nothing else does!
